GEO TAGGING TRAINING FOR KARLAHUT DISASTER MANAGEMENT OFFICER IN RIAU

Geotagging training lasted for 2 days (31/07- 1/08) in the assessment center Class, Riau Police, presented by Dr.Agus Wibowo, Head of Data, BNPB. The purpose of this activity is to train participants so that they can determine the location of hot spots and determine the location of crime scene photos by using internet tools.
Participants, who attended, among others, are BRIMOB Riau Police, Police SABARA Riau, Riau Police POLAIRUD, KOREM Bukit Barisan and representatives from BPBD Riau. The attendees seemed enthusiastic and was eager to know the better use of Geo Tagging application.
In his presentation, Agus Wibowo described the camera used must be equipped with a GPS in order to know the location shooting. Then detecting via Google earth the location of the photo, of course, the computer should be able to connect to the internet.
In addition, the participants also undertook field practice session which was taking a photo using the iPhone, BlackBerry (above BB Gemini), or android phone that has a GPS application.
The day after, Agus Wibowo provided training on how to determine the location of the hotspot by using the weather application on the website, combined with Google earth application. “In addition to determining the hotspot, Geotagging can be used to report the riot, or criminal events because we are facilitated by camera/gadgets which has GPS application tool so we could immediately know the exact location of the incident” he said.
