A 6.6 SR magnitude earthquake occured on 01-Sep-13 at 18:52:32 pm. The epicenter was in the ocean at coordinates 7.75 LS, BT 128.40 (222 miles Southwest Maluku the northeast). The Depth of the epicenter was 131 Km. It was not potentially caused tsunami. The earthquake was coming from the Sesser Wetar channel.
BNPB command post has been confirmed the area. Strong earthquake felt by the public approximately 7-10 seconds in Southwest Maluku. Communities scattered out of the house. BPBDs of Southwest Maluku are still monitoring the earthquake and its impact. The area around the epicenter of the earthquake was small islands, scattered and restricted access around the Banda Sea led to difficulties in rapid monitoring.
