Mr. Toshiyuki Adachi, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan for Engineering visited National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) who was directly welcomed by the Primary Secretary of BNPB , Ir. Fatchul Hadi , Dipl. HE in BNPB Office, Jl. Ir. H. Djuanda No.36, Central Jakarta (9/9).

This Courtesy Visit was a Japanese mission in developing structure and infrastructure, public facilities and railway construction in Indonesia. For specific purpose, Japan with BNPB will discuss disaster management in Indonesia. In the event of disaster in Japan, it was the first time that the Japanese government is building infrastructure, unlike the disaster management in Indonesia, who seems to tend build the housing. “In addition to exchanging information in disaster management, we expect Japan’s cooperation with Indonesia, particularly BNPB to be continue in the future,” said Toshiyuki.
In his speech, Fatchul Hadi gave appreciation and thanked Japan for the support through JICA, as well as Early Warning System (EWS), and other things. “We are expecting in March 2014, for the training of Megatrust Tsunami in Padang, we will need the Japanese government support “said Primary Secretary.
Meanwhile, DR. Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, The Head of Data, Information and Public Relations Center, said that the demand for Japanese scholarships for Indonesia to learn about disaster management, as well as the Japanese government’s cooperation to research the disaster management in Indonesia. In addition to the increase in tsunami disaster risk reduction there are 4 programs, namely: 1 . Strengthening early warning chain, 2. Shelter construction, 3. preparedness, 4. Development of national instrumental.
The Japan Government visit was also attended by Drs. R. Sugiharto, the Head of Legal and International Cooperation BNPB, Mr.Tokunaga from JICA and Mr. Goro Yasuda, Japan Director of International Cooperation and Infrastructure Engineering, Mr. Shinichi Horisaki Deputy Director International Cooperation, Mr . Shunpei Harada Overseas Project field staff and Mr. Kazushi Furumoto, Attaché for infrastructure from Embassy of Japan in Indonesia. ( acu ) .
