Directorate of Community Empowerment Deputy of Prevention and Preparedness in conjunction with the series of Disaster Risk Reduction co memorial Month in Mataram, held mangrove planting activities in Cemare village and self-evacuation in Teluk Buwur village (8/10).
Both areas are located in the coastal area in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, which is a prone region to environmental pressures both from land and from the sea. Rising sea levels is the impact of global warming on the entire hemisphere and affect the onset of floods triggered by a tidal wave.
The decision on both location of the coastal village is mainly because the West Lombok district possesses the characteristics of very diverse localities. The self evacuation simulation activity is determined by the distance to the sea, population, and historical impact of disaster risk influenced by the cycle of the summer monsoon.
Directorate of Community Empowerment Deputy of Prevention and Preparedness explained those non-governmental society/organizations, social and economic improvement and also mangrove planting is an indicator of the strong village. The society wants to be trained, survived from the disaster and maintains awareness of mangroves thus improving the welfare of rural communities and become tough/strong.
