RADIO COMMUNICATION TECHNICAL GUIDANCE FOR CENTRAL AND EASTERN REGION BPBD OF INDONESIA

National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) held a Radio Communication Technical Guidance for Central and Eastern region BPBD of Indonesia at October 21 until 23, 2013 at Aryaduta Hotel, Karawaci, Banten. There are 14 Provincial BPBD to attend, namely,  Bali, NTB, NTT, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Maluku and Papua.
The event was opened by the Head of Information BNPB, Ir. Neulis Zuliasri M.Si, representing The Head of Data, Information & PR BNPB. In her speech, she stressed the “importance of communication for the exchange of disaster data and information between the Province/District BPBDs and BNPB in disaster management operations”. Followed by the presentation “Licensing Procedures on Radio Frequency Spectrum” presented by the Head of Office Land Moving Services, Directorate Resources of Operations, the Directorate General of Post and Telecommunication, Kemkominfo. BNPB Steering Elements, KRT Adi Koesumo deliver material on “The Role of Radio Communication in Disaster Relief “.

In addition, the technical guidance outlined some issues related to disaster management radio communication: (1) Operating Procedures, (2) Procedures for News Submission and Receipt, (3) Talking Procedures, (4) Technology and TETRA radio operation, (5) HF radio antenna Setting up techniques in emergency situation.
With the material provided in the technical guidance this time, it is expected to increase the capacity of BPBDs radio operator so that the province can independently manage their disaster radio communications involving BPBDs District/City.
